    Through travel, Encounters come

Post by Blade on Thu Nov 27, 2014 11:22 am

This time, Caim, Deimos And the newly befriended Dusk had decided to take their travel and exploration much further than usual. They had found themselves wondering in a southern direction for hours, of course the trio had taken suitable breaks on the multitude of routes they crossed through on the journey, but Contact with others was incredibly... non existent. The trio had figured that perhaps if they did wonder, they'd find contact with Pokémon that could be of great use to them, or maybe encounter a trainer occasionally to ask for directions, but non of that occurred... all that it was, was a simple, quiet, solitary journey towards the southern end of the region.

Eventually, the trio had found themselves on a route simply entitled, 'Route 15'. The conditions here felt like quite a shift to what they had experienced in the north, with the strong winds back on route 11, to the chill they encountered up within the area they recruited Dusk, the Snowcap Mountain. The trio merely kept moving in silence, Dusk was already having a hard time thanks to the hot air within the area, it'd be a complete shift for her, going from a suitable environment to such a desolate area. It wasn't long until Caim recalled Dusk, in order to try and assure her safety.

Deimos however didn't really seem all that bothered by the terrain, thanks to the typical seclusion of his species and their adaptation to the rugged environments, he didn't struggle all that much. Eventually, Caim sighed and stopped, causing Deimos to do so as well. "This is quite the change in terrain... I think this'll do for how far south we go, since we're here, let's take a look around" Caim spoke towards his Pokémon, who merely gave him a simple nod to acknowledge his words.

It was about midday and Summer had been wandering down Route 15 for most of the morning after naming her new Eevee companion. She currently had her PokéNav out and was absent-mindedly looking at the map it provided whilst she walked, trying to work out how much further she would have to walk until the next town. She still wanted to get a professional to check out Soren's leg in case her own knowledge had been wrong and there was something more wrong with it. But unfortunately, she couldn't do that until she found herself in a town with a Pokémon Center.

Summer was still staring at the map when the smaller than normal Larvesta that was perched on her shoulder made a small noise, causing her to look up. A short distance away was what appeared to be another pokémon trainer, accompanied by a large pokémon with pure white fur. Pausing, Summer scanned the pokémon from afar using the built in pokédex function of her PokéNav. After a short moment of searching the pokémon in it's database, a mechanical female voice quietly began to speak.
#359 Absol - This pokémon has the ability to foretell the coming of natural disasters. It lives in a harsh, rugged mountain environment. This Pokémon very rarely ventures down from the mountains as it is often mistaken as a doom-bringer when trying to warn others of impending disasters.

"Interesting," blinked Summer, looking back from the PokéNav to the Absol. Cheerfully, Summer jogged over to the trainer.
"Hi there!" she grinned, "Your Absol is beautiful. Is it true that it can actually sense impending natural disasters?" she asked, looking at the white furred pokémon in awe.
Soleila seemed to make a small noise of embarrassment at her trainer's behaviour, whereas the Eevee sat on Summer's head mewed quietly, hiding it's face in Summer's red hair as if he was scared of the new faces.

Caim and Deimos, having both been glancing around the area to try and spot anything interesting, hadn't actually noticed the girl approaching, although Deimos had somewhat detected that something was heading towards them thanks to the faint vibrations within the earth of this desolate place. His immediate reaction was to alert Caim to this presence he felt heading towards, which he did so by nudging his leg.

Feeling the nudge, Caim stopped glancing around randomly and looked towards Deimos, and then towards where Deimos was now looking. Caim could now see what appeared to be a girl, one that appeared to be a few years younger than him from first glance... but, sometimes glances can be deceiving. As she ran up to the two and attempted to compliment Deimos, Caim wasn't all that sure of what to say... and neither was Deimos. Deimos eventually shook his head at the compliment, if he was a female he probably would have taken it well, but he most certainly was not a girl, as of such he didn't take it all that, dusk probably would have taken it rather well though.

Caim, well, needless to say he struggled for words, he hadn't expected to run into anyone out here considering he hadn't encountered anyone on the travel southbound that he had done to get here. Gathering his courage, he did his best to speak properly in order to respond. "Um... well... he's able to detect changes in the earth and sky, so yes..." Caim spoke, trying to keep his speech cohesive.

"That's so cool!" grinned the red haired trainer, positively gushing over the Absol. Though it was clear she admired the pokémon's natural abilities, she would in no way put it on a pedestal over her own pokémon. To her, Soleila and her newly caught Eevee friend, Soren were the best pokémon in the world, and even this guy's Absol's super neat abilities wouldn't change that.

After she'd got over her initial awe, she turned to the Absol's trainer.
"Oh, sorry to randomly jump in like that. I'm Summer and this is Soleila and Soren," she said with a smile, motioning to the Larvesta on her shoulder and the Eevee on her head in turn.
"We're passing through, but Soren's hurt his leg so I was wondering if you knew how far the nearest town or Pokémon Center was from here?" she asked finally. In all honesty, she'd love to challenge that Absol to a battle to see what it could really do, but Soren's health came first and she'd rather make sure her new friend was okay before challenging another trainer to a battle.

    Encounter requested by Blade
    Species: Larvitar
    Level: 4
    Capture Rate: 1
    Ability: Guts
    Moveset: Bite, Leer, Curse
    Gender: Female

    Enconter requested by Summer:
    Species: Farfetch'd
    Level: 4
    Capture Rate: 2
    Ability: Inner Focus
Moveset: Poison Jab, Sand Attack, Leer, Fury Cutter
    Gender: Male

Squawking loudly, what appeared to be a Farfetch'd came running through the rocky area, quite obviously fleeing from something. The cause of this flight could soon be identified as a rather sleepy-looking Larvitar chasing after the Flying type. It seems as if the bird had disturbed the Ground type's slumber, which was now trying to retaliate by throwing small stones it found lying around at the Normal type.

Caim was actually going to respond with an introduction of his own To the girl who had told him her name was Summer, but his attention was quickly sent elsewhere as he heard and caught sight of the commotion. He watched as the Farfetch'd appeared to be running for it's life, clearly fleeing from the stone throwing larvitar. Usually he would have left this be... But he couldn't just stand by and watch this, the larvitar May not have realised it, but that could truly cause damage to the Farfetch'd, so he wanted to deal with the larvitar.

Glancing down to Deimos, Caim made a simple motion with hands, which Deimos easilly understood. Turning his focus towards the Larvitar, Deimos's eyes began glowing with psychic power, triggering one of his only moves that could actually do anything to the Pokemon, he'd triggered future sight. The two watched as moments passed, only for an immense psychic blow To strike the Larvitar, causing it to groan in extreme pain, sure Deimos wasn't all that great a special attacker, but the raw power behind the Psychic type move more than made up for that.

The Larvitar wasn't down right away though, it turned it's sleepy gaze towards Caim and Deimos, and instead began throwing the stones towards them. Feeling a number of stones hit him, Caim figured enough was enough. He took out a Pokeball and threw it straight at the Larvitar.

Summer would normally be quite annoyed with someone who deliberately didn't answer her, putting off their conversation for some other reason. However, in this case, Summer believed the reason to be quite justified... at least to begin with. Now she wasn't sure if he'd helped out of the goodness of his heart, or whether he just wanted to capture the pokémon -her dex had quickly identified it as a Larvitar- that was chasing the birdlike creature - identified as a rare Farfetch'd.

She had to wonder why so many of the pokémon on this route appeared to be so territorial. There wasn't even that much to be territorial over, as much of the route was just grass covered in ash blown down from Crimson Peak. Nevertheless, she didn't want the Farefetch'd to be injured as Soren had been after being attacked by a territorial Persian, and quickly stepped in to try and help.

His Farfetch'd however, did not have the same timid temperament as Soren had and instead of allowing Summer to calm him down, mistook the trainer for someone who wanted to capture him as Caim was trying to capture the Larvitar, lashing out with the stalk he carried in his wing.
Soleila quickly hopped in between the blow, taking it herself so that Summer wouldn't be hurt.

"Soleila!" she called out in concern, attempting to cap her temper as she experienced anger towards the Farfetch'd's actions. Before she could call out to the Larvesta again, Soleila had already gotten back to her feet with a defiant cry and had used Ember on the Farfetch'd, burning the tip of it's stick.
The Farfetch'd squawked loudly and bashed his stick on the ground to put out the flames before turning to the Larvesta with an equally loud squawk.
Soleila made a loud noise in reply and the two pokémon seemed to get into quite the argument, Summer and Soren merely watching from afar as the former two exchanged words in a language that Summer couldn't completely understand.

Caim and Deimos merely stood back and watched as the ball constantly rocked back and forth, only to be treated with the Larvitar brea king out of the sphere. After it took a moment to reacquire it's surroundings, it slowly advanced forwards, using what seemed to be a move that made it slower. Needless to say Caim didn't understand the point of that, considering that just meant Deimos could easilly dodge around. In this case however, the Asbol held it's ground, soon enough the clearly hostile Larvitar quite litterally attempted to take a bite out of him, which was somewhat successful.

As he felt the bite clamp down on him, Deimos growled in pain. His reaction to refirving the attack was swift however. He triggered a move that Caim and Deimos both knew typically proved it's self as capable, he initiated the Stone Edge, causing the many razor sharp stones to form deep within the earth. Deimos growled as he felt the razor sharp stones pierce through the earth as they surged upwards, soon to great the Larvitars body.

Despite being resistant to the Stone Edge, the Larvitar clearly was weakened even more by the attack, as could easilly be seen in it's slowing movements, and as the distance the stones were through decreased. Deciding to try again, Caim took out yet another Pokeball, and threw it towards the Pokemon.

Post by Summer on Fri Nov 28, 2014 7:00 am

Summer and Soren continued to watch the two pokémon verbally fight, the red-haired teen taking a moment to glance over at the guy she'd just met to see how he was doing. From what she could tell, he appeared to have caught the Larvitar that he and his Absol had attacked.

She turned back to the 'verbal' argument when Soren made a small mewl of concern from where he was perched on Summer's head. The argument had devolved into a battle once more, the Farfetch'd having used Leer on Soleila. The Larvesta retaliated by using String Shot, firing generous amounts of the string at the bird pokémon, attempting to tangle it up in the web and prevent it from attacking. If anything, this made the Farfetch'd more angry because it further ruined the stick it carried.

At this point, Summer attempted to step in, advising Soleila's moves rather than letting her do what her sudden temper fuelled. The Farfetch'd used Sand-Attack, kicking up dust and ash from the path and hitting it towards Soleila.
"Quick Lei-Lei, dodge to the left!" called Summer. The Farfetch'd wasn't quick enough to change the direction of it's attack due to the string tangling it's wings and legs, which Summer took advantage of. Soleila reacted quickly to her trainer's words and easily dodged the dust that attempted to lower her accuracy.

"Ember from behind, finish it off!" called Summer. The normally rather intelligent Larvesta had become rather frustrated in the idea that he wild Farfetch'd would attack her trainer and it had clouded her judgement when it came to dealing with it. Soleila acknowledged Summer's strategy and used her now higher speed to dodge around the Farfetch'd, using Ember from behind and striking the bird's back where there would be no danger of damaging it's precious stick further.

Finally, the bird was knocked out and Summer sighed in relief, wandering over to pick up Soleila, slipping her PokéNav back into her bag.
"You shouldn't be so reckless," she chuckled to the Larvesta, "Even if you were only trying to protect me."

Once again, Caim and Deimos watched as the spherical form of containment shook back and forth due to the Larvitar trying to escape from the ball. Soon enough it did cease shaking, meaning that the Pokémon had been successfully captured and could no longer cause harm to anyone at this moment in time, which was both a sign of relief and worry... once again this Pokémon had a life here, one that Caim could be taking it away from without it's consent... just like feared he would be doing with Dusk.

At this moment Caim turned his focus to Deimos, the Absol had certainly proven it's strength, but he still got hit during the fight from that larvitar's bite... was he okay? or was he just trying to hide the pain like he usually would? "Deimos, are you okay? are you injured at all?" Caim asked his Absol, concern clearly identifiable within his voice, from which one could easily identify the strong bond Caim and Deimos shared.

~A howl rents the air. The source of the sound gets closer and closer to your location. There is a spray of dust and dirt as a dog-like pokemon races onto the scene, angry eyes blazing with an inner fire. It's furious, growling and snarling at you. What you can't see is two huge thorns in it's back paws, possibly caused by another pokemon.~

Whilst the Farfetch'd was knocked out, Summer managed to get a good look at the stick it held. It seemed to resemble a leek. She couldn't help but wonder how the bird had managed to find such a stick around these parts, considering the fact that not a lot grew around here. Soleila, watching her trainer, used her flames to gently fly up and land on Summer's bag, digging through it with her small bug feet until she found what she was looking for; Summer's PokéNav. Knocking it out of the bag, Summer caught it mere moments before it hit the ground, giving the Larvesta a questioning look.

Soleila made a small noise that prompted the red-haired trainer to open the device and turn it on. Crawling up onto Summer's shoulder, the Larvesta leaned over and poked at the device's screen, attempting to activate the map functions. With a small chuckle, Summer opened the map and let the Larvesta attempt to direct her around the device's functions. Apparently Soleila was a lot quicker and figuring out how things worked than she was. Eventually the Larvesta managed to get up a map of the area around Route 15.
"Man this thing is useful," commented Summer before looking to Soleila, "Why couldn't you have done this earlier when we were looking for the closest town."

Soleila appeared to ignore her, the small bug instead identifying somewhere on the map which she vigorously pointed to with one small appendage. It looked like a tiny area of water, which was unusual since almost all of Route 15 was subject to a permanent drought-like state.
"You want to go here?" Summer asked, to which Soleila nodded, making a small noise before indicating back to the fallen Farfetch'd.

For a moment, it seemed like Summer didn't quite understand her friend's intentions, before both Soleila and Soren hopped off of her shoulder and head respectively and pointed to the burned leek stick that the KOed Farfetch'd still held.
"Ooooh," she grinned, finally understanding, "You want to find him a new stick."

The Eevee and the Larvesta both cried out cheerfully. Any normal trainer would have probably been rather embarrassed that they hadn't understood their partner's intentions immediately, but Summer's mind was soon focussed on the task at hand.
"Alrighty then!" she grinned, a determined look in her fiery crimson eyes, "Operation: 'Get New Stick Before Farfetch'd Wakes Up' is a go!!" she yelled, fist pumping the air before scooping Soren and Soleila into her arms.

Seemingly forgetting about the presence of the guy with the Absol, Summer jogged past him, following the map as they headed for the tiny body of water that the Larvesta had found.

ooc// Yea so i'm just gonna temporarily ignore the Houndour encounter for a few posts so that I can ease it into the RP a little easier and not just have pokemon after pokemon appear for no reason |D

Since the two had been left alone by Summer, there hadn't been any Interruptions to Deimos's response, which had been a simple nod of the head, sure the bite might have been boosted by what must have been curse, but the move wasn't exactly effective considering it was utilised on a dark type.  Breathing a sigh of relief, Caim smiled at his Pokemon.

Now turning his attention to the spherical storage device on the ground, Caim sighed somewhat, understanding that he had to speak to the captured Larvitar. In silence he picked up the sphere, after which he sent out the Larvitar. The still apparently sleepy Larvitar looked around, trying to get it's bearings. When if spotted Deimos, anger could be seen in her eyes, but the Larvitar didn't try anything, it'd already received a beating from Deimos,  so the Pokemon merely glared towards Deimos with it's sleepy eyes.

Seeing the clear lack of trust, Caim knelt down next to the Larvitar, he had a piece to say just like before. "Look... I understand that you must be angry still, but we need to talk... I can already tell you and Deimos likely won't get along, but that's not the focus here, that would be you. If you want to go back to whatever it was you were doing, go on ahead, I won't stop you... But if you are willing, we really could use your help. Caim spoke, to be met with nothing but a glance from the Larvitar, it was clear the Pokemon was still angry and somewhat sleepy... But it wasn't able to attack or harm anyone anymore for the time being, which was what really mattered.

It didn't take too long to get to the spring. The map on Summer's Pokénav Plus surprisingly made the journey seem a lot further than it actually was. This explained where the Farfetch'd had come from anyways. It was likely that the Larvitar had chased it from this very spring, perhaps wanting to claim it as it's own territory. Nevertheless, Summer wandered over to the spring, dipping a hand into it out of curiosity. The water was surprisingly cool, considering the fact that the rest of the route was bone dry and how close it was to the volcano. Soren hopped down off of Summer's head to lap at the cool water.

Glancing around, Summer attempted to identify anything that looked like the stick that the Farfetch'd carried. Spotting a plant nearby, she headed towards it with a grin. Upon reaching the plant, sticking up out of the ground near the water's edge, she moved to grasp it with her hands. Before she could attempt to pull it from it's roots, an eerie howl rent through the air.

Blinking, Summer looked up from the plant, wondering what could have made such a shiver-inducing sound. Standing up from where she was crouched by the plants, she looked off into the distance, spotting something with black fur dashing closer and closer. Another howl rips through the air and Summer could see the pokémon kicking up dirt and ash from the surrounding soil as it ran.

"What is that?" Summer asked quietly, mostly to herself. Assuming it to be a pokémon, she quickly dug through her bag for her PokéNav. As with most new pokémon she encountered, her first port of call would be to scan it with the Nav's pokédex function. A she did so, it continued to run towards them, and Summer could hear it's growls as it drew closer.

The mechanical female voice spoke quietly as it scanned the creature.
#228 Houndour - These pokémon communicate with each other using a variety of cries to corner their prey. It's remarkable teamwork is simply unparalleled. Around dawn, its ominous howl echoes through the area to announce that this is its territory.

Glancing back to the approaching Houndour with confusion in her eyes, Summer wondered why it would be howling constantly if it wasn't dawn. It was well past midday, and so according to the pokédex, well past the time it would normally announce it's claims on a territory. The dex had also pointed out an interesting quality. Apparently this pokémon's teamwork was amazing, something that could come in rather handy in the long run. And to top it all off, the dex told her that Houndour was part fire type.

Eyes practically shining with determination, Summer wondered if there was any way she could convince this remarkably cool pokémon to come with her and be a part of her growing team. Before she could think about how to go about this, the Houndour was upon them. Seemingly angry for some reason, it user Ember, the fire move heading straight towards Summer and the plant she was trying to pull from the ground.

Thinking fast, Summer leaped in front of the still planted stick and used her hands to block the fire. Soleila also aided, using her own Ember to counter the brunt of the move and protect the rest of Summer. The red-haired teen's fire breather training certainly came in handy sometimes, her hands already immune to burns as a result. When the flames stopped, she shook her hands as if to rid them of some invisible feeling, before standing back up to her full height and staring the Houndour down.

Now this type of pokémon, she had experience with. A lot of fire types had quite volatile personalities, angering easily. But they always had a reason, she just had to figure out what. She considered that she might be trespassing on it's territory, but she'd already come to the conclusion that this was where the Farfetch'd must live, and so that didn't add up. The Houndour didn't seem like the type to pick and choose what sort of pokémon to let on it's territory: there must be another cause.

"Soleila, use String Shot!" she called out, before the Houndour could attempt to use a second Ember. Summer found herself being quite glad that Soren was still drinking from the spring water a short distance away so that he wasn't involved in such a battle. The Eevee timidly hid within the small amounts of plantlife that grew around the spring, watching Summer and Soleila as they battled the Houndour.

The Larvesta quickly released a sturdy string from it's mouth, tying the Houndour's jaws together and temporarily preventing it from using it's Ember move. As the Houndour pawed at it's face to try and remove the string, Summer called out again.
"Okay, now try an Ember!" she called to Soleila.

The Larvesta did as instructed, firing an Ember attack from the five whorled horns on her head. The Ember scored a direct hit, but the Houndour was unaffected and continued to paw at it's jaw until the String was completely removed.
"What the hell?" Summer yelled in surprise, wondering how it could take absolutely no damage from the move. Sure, fire types were resistant to fire moves, but not usually to the point where they would do nothing at all. What she didn't yet realise, was that this was due to the Houndour's Flash Fire ability.

Caim and Deimos glanced to each other, and then back to the Larvitar, awaiting it's answer. After some deliberation, the Larvitar nodded it's head, sure it could just leave... but that Absol made the Larvitar look weak, and it wanted payback one way or another. Heading with them would give her the chance to become stronger, which was exactly what she would need to get such payback.

Deimos was already aware of the Pokémon's thoughts though, the Larvitar didn't exactly make it hard to work out why it wanted to come along... even Caim was able to work it out rather quickly from a simple motion from Deimos. "If you only want to come along so you can try and harm Deimos, then forget it... I'm not going to allow someone to come along if all they want is for my friend to come to harm...take some time and think, clear you're mind... then we'll talk about this, understood" Caim spoke, usually he'd be using a kind tone, but this wasn't one of those times. Anger could be detected in his voice for the most part, although It subsided near the end.

Now Summer was in a little bit of a pickle. She was well aware that Soleila's only attacking move was Fire type, and now this Houndour seemingly was not at all affected by that move. She racked her brain for answers as she watched the black dog tear the last of the Larvesta's String Shot from it's jaw and prepare it's own Ember.

"String Shot again!" called Summer. At the very least she could try and prevent the Houndour from harming Soleila. However, the Larvesta wasn't quite quick enough and the dog fired it's flames, reducing the string to ashes. Soleila narrowly dodged it by using fire from her horns to propel herself out of the way.

This wasn't working. The Houndour continued to advance on the two, it's mood not becoming any better at their attacks. It let out another Howl before dashing towards Summer and Soleila. Before it could get very far however, a flash of brown collided with it's side, knocking it off course.

"Soren!" called Summer with a grin. The Eevee had arrived just in time, and with a move or two that might actually work.
"Are you okay to battle?" she asked, Soren nodding gently after a small moment of hesitation. He was eager to prove to Summer that he was just as capable as Soleila.
    "Well, alright then."

The Eevee quickly took up a position in front of Summer, waiting for the Houndour to get back to it's feet. Soren might be a lower level, but he was a nimble little fox and after Summer checked his moveset, she formulated a small strategy in her mind.

Considering what the Larvitar had previously heard Caim say while it'd been within the pokeball, his sudden anger fuelled tone was quite the surprise to the Larvitar, it showed that Caim wasn't going to allow what she wanted. The Larvitar began walking away from Caim and Deimos... it needed some time to think this over... this could be a one in a life time chance... but would it be the right choice? The Larvitar couldn't tell.

Caim sighed somewhat as the Larvitar walked away, after which he turned his attention to Deimos. "Thank you for not doing anything to cause further violence, even with the Larvitar's wishes... thank you Deimos" Caim spoke towards his Pokemon, to be met with a simple nod from Deimos

The Houndour, now back on it's feet, made to charge angrily towards Summer and her pokemon. Quickly, the red-haired trainer attempted to put her plan into action.
"Dodge and use Tail-Whip!" she called out. Soren waited for a moment as if considering his options for dodging, the Houndour drawing closer. After a few moments, Soren quickly ducked down and shot forwards, straight between the fire dog's legs. Emerging behind it, the Eevee used Tail-Whip, flicking the back of the Houndour's legs with his fluffy tail.

The Houndour seemed confused for a moment as it felt the brush of Soren's tail against it's leg, skidding to a halt. Summer took advantage of this and called out.
    "Now Tackle!"

Soren acted quickly, bouncing around and attacking the Houndour suddenly from behind. The Tackle took out one of Houndour's back legs, the Eevee dodging out from beneath the dog just before it collapsed to the ground once more. Angry at Soren, it formed a flame in it's jaw, following the Eevee's movements before attempting to hit him with an Ember.
